Our Lead Engineer and his experienced Technicians at Independence Power have done remediation on hundreds and hundreds of pieces of equipment and switchgear.
We start with a thorough evaluation of your equipment's compliance needs. Our team listens to your concerns and inspects the site to provide a clear action plan.
After the initial assessment, we deliver a personalized solution proposal, including timelines and costs, to remediate non-compliance areas in line with UL standards.
Our licensed electricians implement the remediation plan efficiently, ensuring all equipment meets UL standards. We coordinate closely with facility managers to minimize disruptions.
We perform a detailed inspection post remediation to ensure compliance. Our team applies the UL Field Label as proof of safety and standards adherence, providing you peace of mind.
For many decades it has been a National Electrical Code requirement that all equipment be labeled by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory.
This was seldom, if ever enforced by the local AHJ's (Authority Having Jurisdiction or Building Department Inspector).
The importance of equipment labeling has become an major issue because a large percentage of manufacturing and production equipment is now being made in other countries.
Labeling has become a prime issue with Building Departments, Insurance Companies, and Company Executives who are concerned about Safety in their facilities.
When the Building department requires your new... or old equipment to be Field Labeled, the first step is to have the equipment Field Evaluated. We offer this as the first step in our turn-key package of services.
Once the Field Evaluation is done, a report is provided that states what components, or wiring methods do not meet the UL safety standards.
The action of doing the adjustments needed based on the list of non-compliant components and methods, is remediation.
The Second part of Turn-Key Service is to provide the remediation services needed based on the report.
The remediation process addresses the individual non-compliant components or wiring methods that need to be adjusted to bring the equipment up to the UL Standards.
This can be :
Safety labeling issues.
Manufacturer's labeling issues.
Replacing Non-Labeled Components
Testing and or replacing wire that is not UL labeled.
Adjusting the equipment circuits so that missing, undersized or non-labeled components are made suitable to meet the standards.
Adding Safety circuitry where needed.
Wire color issues.

Regulatory Compliance: The piece of mind that come along with knowing your equipment (new or old) meets the UL Standards.
Operational Safety: Minimizes risk of electrical failures and safety hazards
The costs: The costs for remediation on the typical piece of equipment varies depending on the condition of the equipment, the age of the equipment and the type of equipment. Generally the costs are about 5% to 15% of the cost to replace the equipment.
Creates an Environment of Cooperation: Typically the local building department will get pretty demanding about equipment labeling issues. many times setting dead lines and in some cases demanding compliance or risk being shut down. On new buildings sometimes refusing to provide a Certificate of Occupancy. Remediation creates an environment where the building department sees cooperation and becomes easier to work with.
We bring years of hands-on experience and a commitment to quality services. With our Field Labeling Remediation, you avoid the hassle of non-compliance fines and ensure your operations are safe.
